We set off nervously for our 4-day trip to Estonia located right in the North East corner of Europe on the Baltic Sea…the nerves were due to the very recent unrest over a Soviet War Memorial statue located in the capital Tallinn. After disembarking the plane and finding our Hotel all worries were dispelled as we set out explore this wonderful city. The weather on this trip was mainly fine and sunny but as “cold as charity”.
The pubs and bars we visited were all good as was the food (basically pork and potatoes!!) but the beer was the real winner…lots of variety and styles and thankfully not all bland lager.
We had a fine day trip to Helsinki on May Day. The capital of Finland was blessed with chilly clear blue skies and a convivial carnival atmosphere … 4 out of the 7 hours spent there were spent in a splendid pub with 23 beers on tap, 10 ciders and a 100 bottled beers to choose from…a definite sweet shop for beer lovers!!
