BEER
FESTIVAL IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK
I would like to share with you a superb day out at the
1st Bressingham Steam Museum Beer Festival, held on the 4th, 5th and 6th of
May.
The host site is in itself a very interesting day out with
3 working steam railways, the Dad’s Army collection, acres of gardens and
plenty of other exhibits. I have to say
that this is just as well, because, the £7-£10* entry fee is payable if you
wish to gain access to the beer.
The festival is a joint venture between The Humpty
Dumpty and Old Chimneys breweries. The
beer range they selected was excellent and by no means did they play safe by
providing gallons of Fullers, Tim Taylor’s or Adnams and the like. Instead we were treated to Goose Eye, Kelham
Island, Lloyds, Frog Island, and Lidstones and of course, beers from the two
organisers as the photo shows.
Pricing of the beer was quite fair; I would compare
them to average pub prices £1.80 for the weaker ones and up to £2.20 for the
stronger ones. The 9% Imperial Russian
Stout was considerably dearer but I forget exactly how much and was too far
gone to care by the time we got round to it.
There are good facilities for a pleasant stay
including catering and camping and coach parties are welcome**. Jo, the Festival Manager from Humpty Dumpty
was pleased with the turn out and she thinks that it will happen again next
year, if it does I’ll see you there.
