NEW BREWERY IN WEST NORFOLK

As Cask Force went to press the news came in that Mark Bristow of the Fox & Hounds at Heacham has started brewing and so the Fox Brewery was born. A brief visit ensued.

His plant was finally complete in mid May. Trial brews were soon followed by full production runs. Currently two brews are produced in the five barrel plant: Heacham Gold, a dangerously drinkable pale summer ale at 3.9% ABV and the stronger Grace and Favour at 4.4% ABV, another pale, but heavier bitter. "Expect more in the coming months" said Mark.

Currently both beers, but especially Heacham Gold, are selling well at the Fox and Hounds, a local village pub near the coast which Mark and Marie have run since 1999. The Fox Brewery was reported by the Independent Imbiber magazine as being apparently the first new brewery in production since the announcement of duty cuts for small brewers in the recent budget. We look forward to seeing Heacham Gold around the district this summer.
