As a break from his Euro-Electioneering local independent
candidate Martin Bell (aka the "Man in the White Suit") presented
the West
Norfolk
Branch of CAMRA’s Pub of the Year award to The Crown in Gayton, near
King’s Lynn.
Licensee Felicity Atherton, who has been at The Crown for five years,
said “I was delighted to hear the news on top of my recent award
by the brewery (Greene King). It is always good to get recognition from
an independent consumer body. Many thanks are due to the brewery, my
staff and customers.”
The Crown, a busy and popular village pub with a friendly atmosphere,
is a regular entry in the Good Beer Guide where five beers are available,
including a guest beer and a mild.
Andrea Briers, Pubs Officer for West Norfolk CAMRA, said “The
Crown is an excellent village pub, a sensitively upgraded, original building
with well trained staff looking after a varied clientele and, of course,
good beer.”
Martin Bell said “I am delighted to have this opportunity to renew
my connections with Norfolk, especially in such a good cause.”
The presentation will take place on Tuesday 25th May 2004 at 8 pm. at
The Crown in Gayton. All press are invited.
